Disclaimer I DID NOT BUY THIS BOOK MYSELF. I use it very heavily with a student.
The only good thing about this book is the number of problems. I would recommend it to someone prepping for SSATs purely as a volume practice tool, but this is a work-in-progress at best.
The authors/publishers need to hire an editor to go through each test. I have used many different books for SAT, GMAT, GRE, SSAT, etc prep. This book has the MOST mistakes I've ever seen. If you don't want to spend the money and time on decent editing,, at least provide explanations for each problem. Its more likely that you will catch the errors this way.
The lack of explanations mentioned above is the other big drawback of this book. Yes, a teacher should be able to solve EVERY problem in a book he/she is using to teach, but there are different ways to solve the same problem. The lack of explanations takes away the value of learning those ways from the author's perspective, and makes this book nearly useless. Especially so, since there are multiple errors in almost every test which rob students and teachers of time checking the same problem multiple time to make sure it is indeed wrong.
The composition of each practice exam is also very uneven. The same topic gets hammered on one exam, and doesn't show up at all on another. Is that really how a real SSAT works? I doubt it. This drawback pales in comparison for the two above, and could be overlooked if the book at least had explanations.
